Residents at Willows Care Home in Romford got into the Halloween spirit with a fun-filled afternoon of seasonal crafts, spooky music and plenty of laughter as they created their own Halloween wreaths.
With autumn decorations spread across the tables, residents had the chance to get creative, choosing materials and adding their own touches to make each wreath special. From pumpkins and ribbons to spooky decorations and a little Halloween sparkle, the activity brought plenty of colour to the room as everyone worked on their designs.
The afternoon was about much more than making decorations. Creative activities provide a lovely opportunity for residents to express themselves, spend time with others and enjoy the satisfaction of making something by hand. Crafting can also encourage conversation, help maintain coordination and dexterity, and offer a relaxed way to take part in something enjoyable at an individual pace.

Of course, no Halloween crafting session would be complete without a suitable soundtrack. Spooky music filled the room throughout the afternoon, inspiring plenty of singing and laughter. One familiar tune proved particularly popular, with residents enthusiastically joining in whenever the question was asked: “Who you gonna call?” The answer, of course, was “Ghostbusters!”
The combination of music, creativity and shared humour made for a memorable afternoon, with residents enjoying each other's company while putting their own stamp on the decorations. Their finished wreaths will help bring a touch of Halloween magic to Willows, adding to the seasonal atmosphere around the home.
Our Wellbeing Team also deserves a special mention for organising the activity and helping residents bring their ideas to life. After all the glue, ribbons, pumpkins and decorations, they certainly earned a little rest from crafting! Their efforts helped create an afternoon full of enjoyment, with everyone contributing to the fun in their own way.

At Willows Care Home, activities like these are an important part of everyday life. Seasonal celebrations offer familiar traditions to look forward to, while creative sessions give residents opportunities to make choices, share experiences and enjoy meaningful time together.
A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the afternoon such a success. With Halloween approaching, our wonderful wreaths are ready to add a festive finishing touch to Willows, and we are looking forward to more opportunities to share laughter, creativity and special moments together.
