Some colourful new residents have moved in – and they’re currently adorning the walls of our lounge.

Benjamin Bunny, Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Pinocchio, as well as Woody, Buzz and the lively (animated) cast of Toy Story, have all come for an extended visit, thanks to our talented resident artist Peter Eustace.

Ex-plasterer Peter was commissioned to paint pictures of the well-loved Disney and Toy Story characters by Michelle, our activities co-ordinator. The inspiration for the delightful Beatrix Potter animals was all his own.

Peter has painted regularly since the age of 30, honing his skills via several art courses along the way.

Sadly, he developed Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and now is on oxygen constantly. As a result, he finds painting tiring, but does still enjoy it for short periods of time. He paints mainly in acrylics and oils and his pictures are much sought after. In fact, our home manager Claudia proudly displays one of his creations – a lovely picture of India’s romantic Taj Mahal – in her office.

Peter says: I love to paint and draw, and find it very therapeutic. I really enjoyed the challenge that Michelle set me. The little cartoon animals were particularly fun to draw, and reminded me of my childhood!”
