Willows residents climbed aboard the MET 1 Steam Locomotive on the Epping Ongar Railway, which took them on a round trip from North Weald for a fabulous day out.

We all arrived at North Weald station all ready for our trip, we watched in awe at the station master preparing the Steam train for its journey to Ongar. Once aboard, we sat back and enjoyed the beautiful countryside views, passing through the now closed Blake Hall Station.

The residents all enjoyed some refreshments on the train, with some indulging in a glass of Prosecco or two!

Once we arrived at Ongar we all enjoyed a mooch around the souvenir shop and then watched the Steam Locomotive being uncoupled and prepared for its return trip to North Weald.

We then hopped back on and made our journey home. Once on home soil, we stopped off for lunch at the Station Cafe, where we all tucked into sandwiches, cakes with a much-needed cup of tea. A fantastic time had by all, and it even sparked reminiscence for everyone as we all had a memory to share of steam trains!
