We were delighted to welcome Professor Deborah Sturdy OBE, the Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, for a visit recently.

Professor Sturdy talked with our home manager, Claudia Ramsamy, and our operations manager, Caron Sanders-Crook, about Claudia’s journey from Carer to Registered Manager, as well as all the challenges surrounding the pandemic – not just for a new manager, but for the care home sector as a whole.

Professor Sturdy did a tour of the home and met staff and residents. She commented on the home’s “welcoming environment” and described the team and residents as “very happy and engaging”.

Residents shared with her their own experiences of the pandemic and their participation in the morale-boosting activities organised by our activities team, including the award-winning lockdown gingerbread house! They also spoke of happier times more recently when they have been able to get out and about on trips to the seaside.
